Paradise @ Koh Yao

We had a long weekend in October and decided to head up to an island off the coast of Krabi, Thailand.  This entailed a 90 minute flight followed by a one hour boat ride to the island so it was easy and very relaxing.  We left the haze of Singapore hoping that the air was clearer on the island of Koh Yao Noi and were very happy to find it was.

The resort consists of villas set into the side of a hill on the island of Koh Yao Noi in the Phang Nga Bay.  Ward and Alexa and family had stayed there last year after visiting us in Singapore and had spoken so highly of it so we decided to give it a try ourselves.  We had three full days on the island and we loved every minute of it.  We had an amazing villa with a beautiful pool overlooking the bay with views of many of the adjacent islands.

One day we took out kayaks as a family and explored some of the area finding some deserted beaches and pretending we were early explorers.  We spent plenty of time playing on our beach, in the pool and practicing our volleyball and badminton skills.  That came in handy on our last day when we had torrential rains all day and still decided to continue practicing our volleyball and badminton skills!

We hired a local guide to take us out snorkeling and exploring islands and saw some great fish and all three kids did a great job snorkeling.  Our waterproof camera was definitely put to the test!

Overall a great trip that let us relax, laugh, explore and get out of the haze.  Unfortunately Sunday came and we had to head back to the bad weather.  We learned upon our return to Singapore that the government had canceled school while we were gone and had instructed all non-essential personnel to work from home on the Friday we were gone.  So glad to have missed that haze!!
